Herstory Page Nominations

Is there a Canadian woman or women's organization you'd like to see profiled in the pages of Herstory? Is there a topic you'd like to see addressed?

Many previous editions of the Herstory calendar have come together with the help and support of our readers. The SWCC welcomes your suggestions and ideas, and invites you to get in touch.

..it is vitally important, above all else, to look beyond the day, to have ambitious dreams and keep moving towards them.-- Claudette MacKay-Lassonde, 1994

Before You Write

Topics must have a primarily Canadian focus, women's groups and organizations must have been founded in Canada or have a significant Canadian presence.

Our profile subjects must have been born in Canada or, if born elsewhere, they must have strong achievement-related ties to Canada, or their contributions must have had a significant impact on the women of Canada.

We'll be providing submission guidelines for nominations as soon as time allows. In the meantime, just send an email in your own words. Be sure to tell us how we can get in touch with you for follow-up but, in general, brevity is best at this stage.

Note: We're sticklers for accuracy when we're doing our pages, but the rest of the time we're pretty loosey-goosey. No need for a formal presentation.

Note: Please do not send attachments with your suggestion. They likely won't be read until phase two of the decision-making process, anyway. If your idea makes it onto our August short-list, we'll contact you and let you know the type of material we'd find most useful.

We're sure you understand that we can't use every suggestion we receive, but we do promise to give all of them our full consideration. If we use yours, we'll definitely let you know.

Who's Made Herstory?

The SWCC has been publishing Herstory for over 30 years. That's a lot of women, a lot of topics, and a lot of accomplishments. If we're unable to accept your suggestion, it might simply be because we've already written about that person, that organization, or that topic.

To see who's already made Herstory, you can consult our recently updated index.
